Swarnika Jewellers Pvt. Ltd. began as one nine-foot counter in Mandvi with two trays and a borrowed weighing scale. Three generations later there are two showrooms and a workshop, and the rule has not changed: the piece is weighed in front of you and the making charge is written down before you pay.
What we are actually selling
Gold is the same everywhere. The rate is published, the purity is stamped, and any shop on this road can show you a hallmark. What differs between shops is what happens in the ten minutes after you say yes — what gets weighed, what gets written down, and what you are told about the making charge.
So that is what we compete on. Your piece goes on the scale in front of you. The net weight, the making percentage, the stone cost and the GST go on the estimate as four separate lines, before payment. If you bring old gold, it is assayed while you watch and the figure goes on the same paper.
None of that is generous. It is simply the version of this trade our grandfather ran in 1994, kept going because it is the only one that survives a family telling each other about it afterwards.

1994
A single counter in Mandvi
Kanubhai Thakkar opens a nine-foot counter with two trays of chains and a borrowed scale. Everything is 22K, everything is weighed in front of the customer.

2003
The workshop upstairs
Four karigars move in above the shop. From here on the bridal work is made in-house, which is why the dies from the 1990s are still in use.

2011
Alkapuri, and the bridal room
The shop moves to Alkapuri and gets a closed room with a mirror, a chair for the mother-in-law and no rush. Bridal appointments start.

2018
Hallmarking, before it was compulsory
Every gold piece is hallmarked and coded three years before HUID becomes mandatory. The making charge goes onto the tag the same year.

2022
Manjalpur, and the second counter
A lighter, faster shop for everyday gold, diamond and silver — and the collection point for repairs and re-polish.

2026
The same trays, online
The website carries the same stock, the same codes and the same making charges as the counter. Video-call shopping and home try-on in Vadodara.
Made upstairs, not bought in
Eleven karigars work above the Alkapuri showroom. Bridal sets, temple work and every polki setting are made there, which is why a repair takes two days instead of two weeks and why the dies cut for us in the 1990s are still in the drawer.
It also means you can watch. Ask at the counter and somebody will take you up while a piece is being set — most people ask once, and then send their family.

What is written on your bill
Six things you never have to ask for. They are printed on the estimate, not implied.
- Hallmarked, and readable
- Every gold piece carries the BIS mark and its own six-digit HUID, printed on your bill and readable in the BIS Care app.
- Making charge on the tag
- Making charges are printed on the tag and on the estimate before you pay. They do not move afterwards.
- Lifetime exchange
- Lifetime exchange on Swarnika gold at the day's rate on the printed net weight — no deduction, no argument.
- Certified diamonds
- Every diamond above 0.20 ct ships with an IGI or SGL certificate in the box.
- Free insured shipping
- Free insured shipping on every order. Delivered in 3–6 working days, signature on receipt.
- 15-day returns
- 15-day return on anything unworn, in its box with the tag and the certificate.
